SMITH Optics - "We Run Cold" | Sage Cattabriga-Alosa

When Smith Optics asked if I wanted to do a shoot with Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, it was an instant "yes" for me.  Sage is one of my favorite skiers for one main reason and that is he is always in a positive mood. Also, he just happens to be one of the best all mountain skiers out there.

One of the highlights of this collaboration was the exclusive artist-designed goggles worn by Sage. The goggles were a result of a creative collaboration between Sage and Smith Optics, turning eyewear into a canvas for artistic expression. On a stormy day in the mountains Sage took a photo of some ice on a rock when he was waiting out a storm. That photo texture ended up on the side of the goggles. The designs reflected Sage's passion for the mountains and his unique artistic flair, creating a one-of-a-kind accessory that seamlessly combined style and function.

Behind the Lens: Capturing the Action

Working closely with Sage, SMITH Optics, and Nemo Design, my role was to capture the essence of the project through the lens of my camera. From the adrenaline-fueled descents down snow-covered peaks to the quiet moments of reflection in between, each shot aimed to encapsulate the raw beauty of the cold and the symbiotic relationship between the athlete and his gear.

Nemo Design's Creative Influence:

Delving into the creative process at Nemo Design, it's evident that their work transcends traditional boundaries. The project, titled "We Run Cold," is a testament to their ability to seamlessly merge design, storytelling, and adventure. The campaign's visuals, as showcased on Nemo Design's website [link], brilliantly capture the intensity of the cold and the resilience of those who embrace it.
